WE WILL BE CLOSING OUR DOORS AT MIDNIGHT MARCH 24, 2020 UNTIL MIDNIGHT APRIL 3, 2020 PURSUANT TO THE "STAY AT HOME ORDER" ISSUED BY GALVESTON COUNTY OFFICIALS.

We will continue to update this website to reflect changes as they occur. The health and safety of our members & visitors is of the upmost importance to us. We know how important these rooms are to the people who come here, so we will do whatever we can to both accommodate those needs while also complying with regulations.

In the meantime, we urge you to find online/Zoom meetings and join them. Please refer to the 'Meetings' page of this website to find a list of available Zoom meetings for our groups.

Thank you for understanding

Summary:

Keeping with our mission of providing safe and clean facilities in support of many recovery groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Al-Anon Family Groups (AFG) is the primary concern.

Once we re-open, we will continue to utilize every precaution in order to reduce the risk of viral infection. The following overview has been our plan of action by the club, its employees, officers, trustees, members and visitors as well as groups renting rooms for “limited occupancy” meetings.

Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Standard methods of daily cleaning & sanitizing BAC shall remain in effect

  • Before/After each meeting Clean/Disinfect per CDC guidelines using bleach & fresh/clean nitrile type gloves

    • All door handles accessible “without” gloved opener (i.e. restroom doors, stall doors, etc.)

    • All Entry/Exit door handles and glass

    • All faucets and fountains in restrooms, hallways and common areas

    • All surfaces accessible to meeting attendees (i.e. Countertops, Tables, Chairs, etc.)

    • Empty trash more frequently using fresh/clean nitrile type gloves & washing hands afterward

    • Ash trays

    • Patio tables, chairs, desk and cinder block wall

    • Coffee Bar / Kitchen area (increase cleaning frequency to “very often” after busy sales or slow)

    • Supplies: Additional soaps & sanitizers shall be supplied and refilled (to full) available in restrooms, common areas and meeting rooms. (note: early meetings need cleaning supplies by their coffee area & a copy of this set of instructions)

    • Safely dispose of all cleaning supplies and gloves, washing hands with soap & water for 20 seconds (per CDC) or alcohol-based hand sanitizer (60%-95% alcohol min.)

  • The BBQ Pit Area is now a viable meeting spot for small groups and needs to be cleaned accordingly

  • Always maintain compliance with the guidance of Social Distancing (6ft between persons) as well as suggestions to occupants to respect other and this guide

Building OCCUPANCY AND LAYOUT Alterations

  • The building occupancy during this time will be dramatically reduced in order to reduce risk of infection

  • All tables have been removed from meeting areas and/or spaced apart supporting the social distancing 6 ft. rule (including common areas and porch)

  • All interior doors will remain open using doorstops & signs

  • MAIN Room now includes Rooms A and B.  All false walls shall remain open AT ALL TIMES during business hours

  • Porch and BBQ Pit Area can be used for small groups (Alateen, GA, PA, and SECULAR but is ultimately a group conscious decision)

  • Rooms E and F are to remain as one (1) room for small meetings

VIRTUAL Meeting/ WEB

  • Some Groups will be adding ZOOM meetings per GSO guides to provide an online meeting to support the reduced occupancy and allow remote members to attend meetings via online conferencing.

  • ZOOM download links will be added to website with simple instructions and fliers. Zoom is free to individuals.

  • Plans to establish a “Virtual Basket”

  • Encourage “memberships” as an income AID to help BAC financially. WE NEED HELP.
